Sam Sacramento was born in a humble, isolated region of Brazil. He first became known to the world not through a lens, but through a sport.
As a teenager, he reached the Brazilian National Taekwondo Team and became a two-time World Champion. He served one year in the Brazilian Army, and in 2001 was invited to train with the English National Team. He moved to London, where he lived for the following years. The discipline of elite sport, the quiet focus required to stay still and ready, became the foundation of everything that followed.
In 2007, he turned his lifelong love of photography into a profession. He studied photography formally in London, pursued advanced courses across Hong Kong, Portugal, Italy and the United States, and built a reputation first as a leading family photographer in London, then as one of the most awarded wedding photographers in Europe. In 2012, he was accredited to photograph the London Olympics, including the Taekwondo events. A dream he had once imagined himself competing in came full circle through the camera.
Today, Sam leads The Sacramentos alongside his wife and co-founder Rayana, and the second generation of the family, Angelina. Together they have documented five hundred love stories across thirty-three countries, dividing their time between the United States and Italy, with a strong presence in France, Switzerland, England, Brazil, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Hong Kong.
Sam's work is rooted in a classic editorial language, shaped from the start by a deep connection to the world of fashion. His wife Rayana spent years as an international model in London and Milan, and that proximity to the editorial industry became part of their shared visual grammar long before fashion sensibility became a trend in wedding photography.
He photographs with instinct and devotion, drawn to the unrepeatable moment that only exists for a breath. The posture of the hand, the fold of a veil, the private look exchanged between two people who think no one is watching. Light is the first language he reads in a space, and architecture is the second. He builds compositions that let the environment speak alongside the subject, framing couples within the lines of a doorway, the curve of a staircase, the shadow of a column. It is a style that carries the restraint of fashion and the warmth of family, built on patience, technical mastery, and the quiet certainty that beauty does not need to be constructed when it is seen clearly.
Our clients come from every corner of the world. Asian, South Asian, European, American, Brazilian, Latin. We have photographed every kind of ceremony imaginable, from intimate elopements in Tuscan villas to multi-day celebrations across Lake Como, Miami, the Swiss Alps, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Hong Kong. The one thread that connects them is a shared sensibility. Our couples are classic, discerning, and they value photography deeply. They often say they connect with us because we are a family ourselves, a trio of artists working in tune with each other, and that something about that steadiness translates into the images we create for them.

Sport
Beyond the camera, Sam has spent much of the past decade teaching photography to those who could not otherwise afford to learn it.
Working alongside a church community in Orlando, Sam launched open photography courses primarily for immigrants, offering scholarships that have changed professional trajectories. Several of his students who began in construction, cleaning, or domestic work today live entirely from their photography practice. He and Rayana also contribute voluntarily to the ministry's visual work, documenting events, pastors, and community leaders.
In 2024, this work was formally recognized when Sam was conferred the title of Humanitarian Civil Diplomat by Jethro International, a global organization operating in over one hundred countries and dedicated to humanitarian diplomacy. The title acknowledges significant contributions to community leadership and the promotion of humanitarian values on a global scale, and formalizes a commitment he has carried quietly for years: that photography is a tool with the power to reshape a life.
Named Best Photographer in a country he had never visited
In 2018, Sam received the Best Photographer of the Year award from Pre Wedding Society Thailand, an association he had never worked with on the ground. He traveled to receive the award in person.
Featured on Angolan national television without ever setting foot in Angola
Following his World Photographic Cup victory in 2020, TV Zimbo, one of Angola's largest networks, invited him for a live interview on A Tarde é Nossa. The segment introduced his work to a wide Angolan audience and the connection remains, though he has not yet photographed in the country in person.
Two-time World Champion in Taekwondo, before he ever held a professional camera
Before photography was his life, Sam represented Brazil at the highest level of competitive Taekwondo. Years later, as an accredited photographer at the London 2012 Olympics, he returned to the mats, this time with a camera in his hands.
A quiet life anchored in family
Sam has been married to Rayana, his co-founder and the love of his life, for twenty-three years. Together they are parents to four daughters, the eldest of whom, Angelina, has stepped into the second generation of the family's photography practice.
Twice a day at the gym, every day he is home
The old discipline of the Taekwondo athlete never left. When he is not traveling for a wedding, Sam trains at the gym twice a day. It is the quiet ritual that keeps him sharp for everything else, the long hours on set, the long flights, the single frame he has one chance to make.
